Stuffed Mushrooms and the Kitchen Floor

I like to read cookbooks. (I don't recommend doing this while you are hungry, though) I tried a new recipe tonight. It's called Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms.

-1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
-1/2 cup real bacon bits
-1 T. chopped green onion
-1/4 tsp garlic powder
-1 lb. whole fresh mushrooms, stems removed.
(and I added a little cheddar cheese, just because I thought it would add to the flavor. It did.)

Beat the cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the bacon, onion, and garlic powder. Spoon into mushroom caps. Broil 4-6 inches from the heat for 4-6 minutes or until heated through. Serve warm. Makes about 2 dozen.

They were superb. So tasty that Josh and I sat down on the kitchen floor and ate them right on the spot. I sent a picture of them to my mom so that she could enjoy at least a picture of the lovely creations. Then we finished our supper of pizza and orange juice and mushrooms. (very balanced, I know)

But I liked eating on the kitchen floor. We talked about soup diets, (no, we are not fans!), our plans for Friday night (pizza with friends!), orphans in Guatemala, being thankful for hot showers, how change is scary but good, how we absolutely must believe that God will provide, how fun it was to eat on the floor, and that we have to be willing to take the first step. We washed the dishes and danced (tried to) to the music of Group One Crew (Josh's choice, not mine).

And then, I taught Josh the Spanish alphabet.
It's been a good evening so far.
I recommend eating at least one meal on the kitchen floor.
