Snow and Miscellaneous Musings

I am thoroughly enjoying the snow.  I woke up and saw the big fluffy delicate things falling down and rejoiced in my heart.

"...though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.." (Isaiah 1:18)

It's so beautiful. It's like redemption falling from the sky. Go run around in it; make a snow angel; throw it at someone else; tromp through it and delight in it.

And at the same time, thank God that it isn't always winter. Spring is coming and I am already eagerly anticipating tulips and green leaves and green grass and robins and daffodils and that wonderful smell of Spring. (it has its very own smell, you know. and there is nothing like it!)

I'm going to have craft day today. If you want to come join me, feel free. In between loads of laundry, I'm going to create something. I don't know what, just something. But seriously, do stop in. I'd love it.

And one last random fact or suggestion for today: Listen to MercyMe's song All of Creation. It will do your heart good. Makes me dance every time.

The dryer is buzzing.
Love to all.

Stuffed Mushrooms and the Kitchen Floor

I like to read cookbooks. (I don't recommend doing this while you are hungry, though) I tried a new recipe tonight. It's called Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms.

-1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
-1/2 cup real bacon bits
-1 T. chopped green onion
-1/4 tsp garlic powder
-1 lb. whole fresh mushrooms, stems removed.
(and I added a little cheddar cheese, just because I thought it would add to the flavor. It did.)

Beat the cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the bacon, onion, and garlic powder. Spoon into mushroom caps. Broil 4-6 inches from the heat for 4-6 minutes or until heated through. Serve warm. Makes about 2 dozen.

They were superb. So tasty that Josh and I sat down on the kitchen floor and ate them right on the spot. I sent a picture of them to my mom so that she could enjoy at least a picture of the lovely creations. Then we finished our supper of pizza and orange juice and mushrooms. (very balanced, I know)

But I liked eating on the kitchen floor. We talked about soup diets, (no, we are not fans!), our plans for Friday night (pizza with friends!), orphans in Guatemala, being thankful for hot showers, how change is scary but good, how we absolutely must believe that God will provide, how fun it was to eat on the floor, and that we have to be willing to take the first step. We washed the dishes and danced (tried to) to the music of Group One Crew (Josh's choice, not mine).

And then, I taught Josh the Spanish alphabet.
It's been a good evening so far.
I recommend eating at least one meal on the kitchen floor.

Hello 2011

I'm thirteen days behind. But here goes. I love the beginning of a New Year. Yes, its the continuing of a journey, but I find something exhilarating about it just the same. So, for this year, among other things, I'll start a blog. It may contain random thoughts, or my latest creations and ideas, or what is passionately on my heart, or simply the latest ravings from atop my soapbox.
That's all for now.

Thanks for tuning in.
